Last Modified

Oct 13, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Unified Computing System

Known Affected Releases

4.1(1a)A

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Some or all of your host vHBAs will no longer communicate with the SAN and you will lose access to fibre channel storage. FLOGI will not succeed.

Host vHBAs will show fault for being down with "reason: waiting for flogi"

Conditions:
- 6400 Series Fabric Interconnects with hosts configured for FC/FCoE connectivity using vHBAs.

- WWxN pool is configured with prefix where third octet is non-Zero.
Example(where value is FF) - 20:00:FF:*

- You can check for this by running the following commands in the UCS Manager CLI:

connect nxos a|b
show system internal access-list sup-redirect-stats | include SMAC-MCAST

- If the above output shows source multicast counters increment while storage initiators are trying to FLOGI in, you are most likely running into this defect.
