Cisco Bug: CSCvv76695 - PCCE Install and Upgrade document has misleading database drive size information

Last Modified

Oct 13, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise

Known Affected Releases

11.6(1) 12.0(1) 12.5(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Under the reference chapter in the Configure Database Drive it states the following:

Note
Virtual machine templates for Logger, Rogger, AW, and HDS servers do not have a SQL database drive preprovisioned. The following reference table can be used to assign disk space to the virtual machine based on the type:

Virtual Machine Template

Default Second Disk Size

Logger 500 GB

Rogger 150 GB

AW-HDS-DDS 500 GB

AW-HDS 500 GB

HDS-DDS 500 GB

You can custom size the SQL database disk space to meet data retention requirements, as calculated by the Database Estimator tool.

====

This is very misleading. If the customer creates drive sizes that do not equal these Default Sizes, they will encounter validation errors.

The only play you can use a custom size database disk size is on an External AW-HDS-DDS.

This section needs two changes.

1. This statement:
"Virtual machine templates for Logger, Rogger, AW, and HDS servers do not have a SQL database drive preprovisioned. The following reference table can be used to assign disk space to the virtual machine based on the type:"

needs to be changed to

"Virtual machine templates for Logger, Rogger, AW, and HDS servers do not have a SQL database drive preprovisioned. The following reference table must be used to assign disk space to the virtual machine based on the type or validation errors will occur:"

2. This statement:

"You can custom size the SQL database disk space to meet data retention requirements, as calculated by the Database Estimator tool."

Needs to be changed to

"You can custom size the SQL database disk space to meet data retention requirements on an external AW-HDS-DDS server only, as calculated by the Database Estimator tool."

Conditions:
Provisioning the SQL database drive on the Loggers, Roggers, AW-HDS-DDS, AW-HDS, or HDS-DDS servers.
