Cisco Bug: CSCvv66504 - DCNM documentation should have guideline against changing third-party software without DCNM upgrade

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco Data Center Network Manager

Known Affected Releases

11.2(1)S1

Description (partial)

Symptom:
It would be helpful to users and support engineers for the DCNM documentation to explicitly state that it is not supported to upgrade underlying third-party software that the DCNM app relies on (Centos, Postgres DB, Java, etc.) on their own. These components are upgrade along with the DCNM app to supported versions during an inline upgrade, so doing so outside of a DCNM upgrade can cause big problems for DCNM during normal operation and regular upgrades.

Conditions:
This is mainly an issue with the DCNM OVA deployment type because the DCNM app and Centos server host are deployed together and tightly coupled. However, we have seen issues on Windows and Red Hat deployments as well.
