Cisco Bug: CSCvv58007 - CUCM media race condition due to CVP RE-invite with new codec information

Last Modified

Oct 05, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager)

Known Affected Releases

10.5(2.10000.5) 11.5(1.10000.6) 12.0(1.10000.10) 12.5(1.10000.22)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
CVP on side A sends a DO INVITE to Jabber on side B, and Jabber sends back an Offer with multiple audio and video codecs. CVP replies with an ACK with multiple codecs and CallManager is preparing to send a Re-Invite with SDP back to CVP to lock down a single codec for audio and a single codec for video. However, before that can happen, CVP sends a Re-Invite with a new codec which requires CUCM to allocate a transcoder. That results in a glare condition and the MediaManager is not updated with the CVP side capabilities. This leads to transcoder allocation failure and the call drops.

Conditions:
Jabber device offers multiple audio and video codecs.
CVP responds with an ACK with multiple codecs instead of picking just one.
