Description (partial)

-A NIM-ES2-8-P module may not forward traffic if it is brand new out of the box.

Example of noticed symptoms are:
- Gig ports with ┬┤switchport mode trunk┬┤ configuration and direct connection to another NIM module fails

- Physical interfaces be up, up, but no packets flow through the NIM module.

- Other types of configuration may also be affected

This caveat only applies for brand new, out of the box devices.

When the router first time boots, an automatic firmware upgrade may be required for the NIM-ES2-8-P model or similar.

To check if this upgrade happened correctly, use the commands:

#show pl ha sub X/X module device "test poe firmware"
