Cisco Bug: CSCvv42650 - [ENH] AV repaired email is included with an attachment

Last Modified

Aug 25, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Email Security Appliance

Known Affected Releases

12.5.1-037

Description (partial)

Symptom:
After AV repairs malicious attachments, it adds "Removed Attachment.txt" to the email which has the below details and delivers the E-Mail to the end-user.

"This attachment contained a virus and was stripped.
					Filename:
					Content-Type:
					Virus(es): "

Is there a way, where we could give an option to the E-Mail admin to configure ESA to not include "Removed Attachment.txt" for the repaired email so the end-users will not be aware of what happened in the backend?

Conditions:
1. When email is scanned by AV and found to contain a malicious attachment, the attachment is removed by AV
2. After removing the attachment it adds a .txt file as an attachment to notify it removed the original malicious attachment
3. We could not strip the .txt attachment using a content filter as well.
