Cisco Bug: CSCvv40340 - Jabber for iOS locks out account in Active Directory after a single bad password login attempt

Description (partial)

Jabber for iOS user enters a bad password on a single login attempt. This could be due to a typo or by end user's mistake. Jabber will remain spinning for some minutes as if it kept reattempting to login.

After that, the account for the user will be showed as locked out in Active Directory side. User will not be able to log into Jabber, not even with proper credentials now, because the account has been locked in Active Directory server due to exceeded number of login attempts.

Active Directory admin will need to unlock the account and user will need to enter proper credentials to login.

This very same issue is not reproducible on Jabber for Android nor Jabber for Windows.

Jabber PRT logs show:

End users enter bad password by mistake.
