Aug 19, 2020
- Sourcefire Defense Center
Known Affected Releases
6.3.0 6.4.0 6.5.0 6.6.0
Symptom: When the IPMI encryption feature is configured within the FMC1600/2600/4600 CIMC then the remote "ipmitool" commands will not work without the encryption key being specified within the "ipmitool" command to remotely accessing the system. The "ipmitool" encryption field is specified using the "-y" parameter and needs to be included with each impitool command as shown below for LOM. Ex: ipmitool -I lanplus -H 10.2.5.76 -U admin -P password sol activate -y 105133D676D1B2A14A5F29A0579C66E8739A6600 Conditions: This issue will be encountered when the user tries to remotely access the device using the "ipmitool" commands that do not contain the encryption key that is included using the "-y" option. The IPMI Encryption key is managed using the "CIMC" configuration menu.
