Cisco Bug: CSCvv16453 - LDAP settings are exchanged in cleartext between web services
Aug 24, 2020
- Cisco Smart Software Manager
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: When the user presses the Access Management widget of the Admin Workspace of Cisco Smart Software Manager On-Prem, a few HTTP requests are made. Looking closer at the specific API call: GET to /backend/access_management/ldap_settings, it can be seen that all the information is exchanged between the client and server in cleartext. The form contains a password which is exposed. Conditions: This was observed in Cisco Smart Software Manager On-Prem versions: 8-202006 (the latest version) and 7-202001. This was happening for an API GET call (when grabbing the LDAP settings) and PUT requests (when changing the LDAP settings).
