Cisco Bug: CSCvv15568 - Image master AP image not cleaned up if no other Image master is available

Last Modified

Aug 28, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers

Known Affected Releases

17.3.1 Bengaluru-17.4.1

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When an 11ax AP is the only AP image master, and when a re-election occurs (e.g. this AP is becoming the active or standby controller), then the AP image for that AP image master stored in RAM is not removed, even though this AP looses its AP image master role.

This is increasing the memory usage by the AP image size (50-70MB) until the time the TFTP server for that image master is stopped (done automatically after 30 min).

Conditions:
Having a single 11ax AP type in the network (i.e. only one 9130, or only one 9120/9115, or only one 9117 etc.)
