Cisco Bug: CSCvv15106 - bwks anywhere char encoding mismatch

Last Modified

Aug 12, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series with Multiplatform Firmware

Known Affected Releases

11.3(2)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Configure the Bwks anywhere feature on the server (xsi)
User preferences > call preferences > anywhere
Phone loads anywhere entry/entries via xsi
Edit > set name to something with a 'non-standard' character (such as German ö or Ö etc)
Phone appears to take char as utf-8 but applies it as iso-8859-1 - the char for iso-8859-1 appears instead of the utf-8 char, i.e. the same decimal/hex code is shared for both chars (see below)

Dec = 246
Hex = F6
utf-8 = ö
iso-8859-1 = ö

Conditions:
Enable Broadworks anywhere feature and set the name to something with a 'non-standard' character (such as German ö or Ö etc)
