Cisco Bug: CSCvv12387 - Improve VNTAG_MGR IFTMC programming failure syslog and documentation
Sep 30, 2020
- Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
7.0(3)I7(8) 8.4(2a) 9.3(5)
Symptom: On previous NX-OS software releases, a Nexus device that has one or more FEXs attached where FEX host interfaces are configured with trunks allowing a large number of VLANs may syslog the following: 2020 Jul 23 11:38:13.241 N9K-1 %VNTAG_MGR-2-VNTAG_IFTMC_ERROR: Desired VLAN programming failed !!! Kindly undo the VLAN programming and retry with reduced Allowed-VLAN scale As part of this enhancement, this syslog has changed to read as follows: 2020 Jul 23 11:38:13.241 N9K-1 %VNTAG_MGR-2-VNTAG_IFTMC_ERROR: FEX host interface VLAN programming failed! This may be due to a high number of VLANs allowed on FEX host interfaces configured as trunks. Use ?show interface trunk? to identify FEX host interfaces with a high number of allowed VLANs and reduce the number of allowed VLANs to be under the ?VLANs per Fabric Extender server interface? value documented in the NX-OS Verified Scalability Guide for this Nexus platform and NX-OS software release. Conditions: Either of the syslogs described above can be seen on any Nexus device that has FEXs attached where FEX host interfaces are configured as trunks allowing a large number of VLANs.
