Products (1)

  • Cisco DNA Center

Known Affected Releases

DNAC1.3.3.4

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Adding a node to a Cisco DNA Center multi-node cluster may fail when (during the install process) etcd won't start on the node being added to the cluster.

Conditions:
The issue is caused on the node being added to the cluster when a value in the parameter is missing in the etcd.manifest file for the initial-cluster configuration.

To assess the condition, login to the node and run the following commands.

# Check that the kube-apiserver is running; only proceed to the next step if the kube-apiserver status shows as Exited
docker ps -a | grep kube-apiserver

# Check the kube-apiserver's docker log to check if is reporting an issue with connecting to etcd
docker log <kube-apiserver's-docker-id>

# Run netstat to check if etcd is listening on ports 2379 and 2380
netstat -tnl

# Check if etcd is running
docker ps -a | grep kube-apiserver

# Check etcd's log for the string "couldn't find local user 'etcd-<IP-address>' in the initial cluster configuration
docker log <etcd's-docker-id>

If the above conditions are met, then this issue is being encountered. Please open a TAC service request for assistance.
