Cisco Bug: CSCvu99351 - SGW-UP going down leading to outage

Last Modified

Oct 09, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 5000 Series

Known Affected Releases

21.15.41.76446 21.15.43 21.16.6 21.16.c14 21.18.6 21.21.0

Description (partial)

Symptom:
SGW-UP unable to forward packets.
Host dmesg shows "TX driver issue detected, PF reset issued"

Conditions:
Issue seen on SGW-UP connected to certain RAN devices
Fragments received on SGW-UP from eNodeB with incorrect fragments sizes. The reassembled packet in VPP gets stored in chained buffer and does not reflect overall sizeof GTPU header and inner UE IP packet. The length of last buffer in the chain gets corrupted while stripping extra bytes matching the difference of buffer and packet size. Chained buffer with incorrect length is handed over to DPDK leading to PF hang in the host.
