  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

Description (partial)

Symptom:
This is a doc bug to clarify and correct the "Configuring NPV" section of the MDS 9000 Series Interfaces Configuration Guide for NX-OS 6.2 and 8.x.

Note When a switch reboots with NPV enabled, every 4th interface (fc1/1, fc1/5, fc1/9. etc) is configured as an NP port by default. All other interfaces are configured as F ports by default.

In the 8.x guide, steps 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10 are incomplete.

In the 6.2 guide, steps 1 and 2 refer to "NPV core switch". It should be "NPIV core switch".

In both guides, steps 7 and 8 are reversed.

Conditions:
Configuring NPV mode on an MDS 9000 switch running any NX-OS 6.2 or 8.x version
