These exceptionlog and syslogs entries need to specify what serial link failed:

Neither of the above tell us much of anything as to what failed. 

Compare this to another exceptionlog entry that states exactly what link failed and what is connected to:
Error Description : Lost sync on slot:5 asic:0 chico:14-->connected to-->Fab-6 link-01
