Last Modified

Jul 06, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Unity Connection

Known Affected Releases

12.5

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Customer using Jabber for VoiceMail with Unity Connection Pub and Sub Connected in WAN with Latency of 55-60ms , Customer Users in CLUSTER with Pub and Sub connected over WAN is experiencing delays in RESPONSE for the API /vmrest/mailbox/folders/inbox/messages Executed by Jabber to fetch messages from the SUBSCRIBER Node while Publisher Responds Fast

Below are the Response time
User having 15 messages Response time from PUB for same user
Response time is 1373 milliseconds
[root@ logs]# grep -r "Fidelus - 443 GET /vmrest/mailbox/folders/inbox/messages" localhost_access_log.txt*
localhost_access_log.txt:[28/May/2020:09:48:43 -0400] 10.3.4.44 10.3.4.44 Fidelus - 443 GET /vmrest/mailbox/folders/inbox/messages HTTP/1.1 200 10997 1373
[root@ logs]#

User having 15 messages Response time from SUB for same user
Response time is 25247 milliseconds
[root@ logs]# grep -r "Fidelus - 443 GET /vmrest/mailbox/folders/inbox/messages" localhost_access_log.txt*
localhost_access_log.txt:[28/May/2020:09:51:19 -0400] 10.3.4.44 10.3.4.44 Fidelus - 443 GET /vmrest/mailbox/folders/inbox/messages HTTP/1.1 200 10997 25247
[root@ logs]#

This is due to the Existing design of Unity Connection , Mailbox access from any of the Nodes would be done to Server with the Primary Role , Hence due to WAN delay is added to the Response as SUB accesses various DB queries from SUB to PUB and Delay is added in the Round trip response

Conditions:
Customer having Unity Connection Cluster over WAN
