Cisco Bug: CSCvu69050 - Upgrade guide should not suggest vDisk changes since it is not supported
Jun 26, 2020
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager)
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: In the document Upgrade and Migration Guide for Cisco Unified Communications Manager and the IM and Presence Service, Release 12.5(1) under the section of Virtual Machine Configuration, in Table 5.Virtual Machine Requirements, Item "VM configuration virtual hardware specifications" you can find the following statement: "Any changes to a VM must align with the OVA configuration. VM changes that result in an unsupported OVA configuration are not allowed. For information about VM requirements, see Readme file with the OVA template that supports your release. Note If Unified Communications Manager is upgraded to version 12.5 from version 11.5 or higher, using 80GB OVA it is expected to have a higher active partition up to 98%. We can correct this by a system rebuilt with HDD 110GB. Either use a default 110GB OVA template and rebuilt the node or on current OVA, prior to install, go to VM > Edit Settings, and increase the HDD size from 80GB to 110 GB. Other specs remain the same." This statement is contradicting the previous paragraph where it states: Any changes to a VM must align with the OVA configuration. VM changes that result in an unsupported OVA configuration are not allowed. For information about VM requirements, see Readme file with the OVA template that supports your release. Per OVA requirements as stated both in the Collaboration Virtualization Sizing (https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/virtualization/collaboration-virtualization-sizing.html) and the OVA readme file for the same version (12.5) (https://www.cisco.com/web/software/283088407/145119/cucm.ova.README.pdf), vDisk cannot be modified from the OVA Template. Conditions: The need to increase the vdisk size may come up when upgrading to CUCM 12.5 coming from earlier versions (10.5, 11.5). Other free space methods should have been attempted first: Modify Low/High Water Marks in RTMT Delete unnecessary or old logs Use the cop file for free space version 1.6 Deleting older firmware of different devices in the system.
