Cisco Bug: CSCvu63730 - SDWAN 20.3/17.3 - Router reboots with Kernel core when traffic is running over cellular

Last Modified

Aug 29, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco XE SD-WAN Routers

Known Affected Releases

17.3 17.3.1

Description (partial)

Symptom:
A Cisco ISR1K SDWAN router may continuously reset with kernel panics. The symptoms may show a last reload reason of CpuCatastrophicError and there would be kernel core files written to bootflash:/core/ directory.

This may appear as a boot loop and thus temporarily halting traffic over the cellular interface or shutting down those interface(s) may potentially cease the crashes until data can be gathered for triage.

Conditions:
This is seen in SDWAN routers with a control channel up on cellular interfaces and traffic forwarded over the cellular interface.
