Cisco Bug: CSCvu55924 - Rakuten: observing silent reload on AP, with reload reason as "unknown"

Last Modified

Jul 08, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Aironet 1800 Series

Known Affected Releases

8.10(138.38)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The device may go "silently" reboot without any explicit user action. The switch the device is connected to may report power being drawn or requested exceeds the amount allowed on the port. On the switch, the device may be listed as a Class 4 device which requires 15.4 Watts.

This reboot will be one where there is no core and various processes are not shut down before the reboot. It will look as if the power was cut.

Conditions:
If the switch sees the device as drawing too much power, then the device's power will get reset, causing the device itself to reset. This is a reboot happening at the hardware level, not a reboot issued by a software process.
