Cisco Bug: CSCvu30791 - Feature enhancement for DNS timers code changes

Last Modified

May 28, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco IOS

Known Affected Releases

15.7(3.0a)M3

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Seeing an odd SIP options behavior in 15.7.3.M3 version, where a dial-peer configured to send every 20 seconds OPTIONS takes one or two minutes to be in busy out status. Binding the dial-peer fixes the problem, in previous IOS code (15.5.3.M4) this behavior was not seen.

After some troubleshooting we were able to see the DNS query has failed for dns server (lab-sv.telepacific.com). Therefore, the dial-peer (6000) takes one or two minutes to be in busy out status. It is getting delayed because dns query response is failed.

Customer was able to test without DNS configuration and dial-peer busyout process worked fine. So the 'issue' is due to DNS timer code changes. Customer was worried about this behavior and he wanted to know if DNS code changes can be removed from future IOS releases.

Conditions:
15.7.3.M3 version
Domain configured as session target
SIP Options enabled
