Cisco Bug: CSCvu23488 - [Jordan]:After enable/disable pim on RL, VRF vnid translation on spine is getting deleted

Last Modified

Jul 27, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

15.0(1f)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
VRF VNID translation gets deleted on a spine switch after PIM is enabled and then disabled on a remote leaf switch, which leads to traffic loss.

Conditions:
Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) is not a supported feature on remote leaf switches. Enabling/disabling PIM may cause VRF VNID translation to get deleted on a spine switch and cause traffic disruption. VRF VNID translation with new VRF GIPO will be re-added. But, there may be a delay in this. Also, since PIM is not a supported feature on remote leaf switches, PIM is not guaranteed to work.
