Cisco Bug: CSCvu22702 - Support CLI options to adjust timers for RIP protocol on ASA

Last Modified

May 30, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

9.9(2.59)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Under certain condiions where RIP timers have been set on the adjacent router, the OSPF/RIP routes may be stuck in the ASA's routing table and OSPF database even after making the interface down on the router. As we have the options to set/adjust the timers on router for RIP and OSPF protocol.

When tested in the lab, only observed the option to adjust the OSPF timers on ASA (no option to adjust the RIP based timers on ASA)

ASA(config)# router ospf 100
ASA(config-router)# timers ?

router mode commands/options:
  lsa OSPF LSA timers
  pacing OSPF pacing timers
  throttle OSPF throttle timers
ASA(config-router)#

However, ASA does not support any command to adjust/configure the timer values for RIP protocol based routes

Conditions:
When the timers configured on the adjacent router for RIP (update, invalid, holddown and flush) does not work as expected on the ASA, require an enhancement to support the commands to adjust the RIP based timers from ASA platform level as well.
