Cisco Bug: CSCvu18912 - Existing "no ip redirects" is removed from intf silently on removal of last secondary IP address

Last Modified

Aug 04, 2020

Products (1)

 • Cisco MDS 9000 NX-OS and SAN-OS Software

Known Affected Releases

7.0(3)I7(7)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
In cases where `no ip redirects` was configured on an interface, the addition and removal of a secondary IP address will silently remove the `no ip redirects` command without warning. This is suboptimal in situations that require or is a bad practice to have redirects turned off.

Conditions:
The following sequence of commands will result in the issue being seen. By the last command the switch will have silently removed the `no ip redirects` command originally entered and mean that the switch is now not consistent with the original configuration.

int vlan 1701
 ip address 192.0.2.1/24
 no ip redirects
show run int vlan 1701
ip address 10.0.0.1/24 secondary
 no ip address 10.0.0.1/24 secondary
show run int vlan 1701
