Known Affected Releases

Description (partial)

Release-note

Symptom:
With PIM-SM route scale and high rate of traffic we see (S,G) routes getting timed out periodically and getting reprogrammed. We can confirm this behavior by seeing Up time getting reset for certain routes.

Auto-RP routes (224.0.1.39 and 224.0.1.40) are also affected by this, and when the Auto-RP routes flap RP information is withdrawn from PIM which will cause PIM SM routes to be deleted.

Conditions:
This issue happens under the following conditions:
(1) PIM SM route scale (greater than 16k)
(2) Aggregated traffic rate across all routes is high (greater than 200pps per route)

In addition, issue is seem more frequently if
(3) Auto-RP is used for RP discovery
