Cisco Bug: CSCvt97947 - Release notes do not adequately describe the impact of deprecated FlexConfig commands in 6.3+

Last Modified

Jul 21, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Firepower Management Center

Known Affected Releases

6.3.0 6.4.0 6.5.0 6.6.0

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Some versions of the Firepower release notes do not adequately explain the consequences of particular deprecated FlexConfig commands, including:

set connection advanced-options tcp-state-bypass
set connection random-sequence-number disable
set connection timeout idle

Conditions:
Version 6.3.0 deprecates these FlexConfig objects for FTD with FMC:
* TCP_Embryonic_Conn_Limit
* TCP_Embryonic_Conn_Timeout

And these associated text objects:
* tcp_conn_misc
* tcp_conn_limit
* tcp_conn_timeout

These allowed you to configure embryonic connection limits and timeouts to protect against SYN Flood Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.
