Known Affected Releases

16.6.5 16.9.4

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Router crashed due to memory holding a pointer been corrupted in the pattern that its high 32bits of the pointer(in the x86_64 architecture) is been decremented by some small value, e.g. 0x7fde688fd138 changed to 0x7fda688fd138. The corrupted byte(usually only a byte been corrupted as it is just been decremented by a small number) is the 20th byte(in the 5th 32bit) offset from the start of the data area
in the IOS malloced memory block. In addition, we can find other freed memory blocks which has the same corrupted pattern as the one triggered crash, and the prevous allocator of them is 'XOS_MEM_UTILS'.

Conditions:
IWAN MC or BR shutdown with large scaling of site-prefix or route-import database.
