Cisco Bug: CSCvt68593 - KVM Sessions Not Working In Cental

Last Modified

Sep 01, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco UCS Central Software

Known Affected Releases

2.0(1a) 2.0(1g) 2.0(1h)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
KVM not working properly in Central when using LDAP account in Central.

KVM will not open when using the following role in Central:

KVM-Only config created with KVM role added.

If the Service-Profile End Point Access able to open KVM on some servers or not at all

Conditions:
LDAP configured with KVM Role and Service Profile Extended Access added

KVM will not work with KVM Role only. The KVM launcher opens but KVM sessions will not open.

If you add the Service-Profile Extended Access added in combination to KVM privilege KVM sessions open for some servers, not all, and sometimes the same servers the sessions opened for will not open a second time

I have reproduced in my lab using the following setup:

LDAP with Active Directory
Central 2.01g <<<<< Customer's Central version
Central 2.01h
Central 2.01a
Any LDAP admin account or local Central admin account works with no issues
LDAP account with KVM security group created in Active Directory and DN mapped to Central where KVM role created with KVM privilege and Service Profile Extended Access

In my lab I am able to open KVM for one domain all all servers but not the others (total of 4 UCS domains added to Root domain group level)

However the servers do not open I was able to open them but will not open on the second attempt. The behaviour is seen accross all Central versions I listed.

The four UCS domains are on the following

4.0.1 <<<< Works all all servers
4.0.1 <<<< Does not work
4.0.4 <<<< Does not work
4.0.4 <<<< Does not work
