Cisco Bug: CSCvt63566 - set "cpp system-default" before upgrading to 16.9.5

Last Modified

Sep 02, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

16.9.4

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Control Plane Policing [CPP] is enabled by default on Cat9k switches.
Class-maps as well as policing rates are included in the running config.
These values could have been different in different IOS-XE releases.
As a result of multiple IOS upgrade from older release to newer release class-map names and policing rates will be merged into CPP policy overwriting the default values included in a particular IOS-XE release.
This will result in a stale configuration that can impact IOS-XE upgrade on Highly Available [HA] setups.

Conditions:
Non-default / stale CPP leftover configuration present as a result of previous IOS-XE upgrades.
