Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco HyperFlex HX-Series

Known Affected Releases

3.5(2d)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
VM has broken snapshot chain after Veeam backup

Conditions:
VM is PSN-SOA-MC-01. This one happens to be Windows server 2008R2. Previous was RHEL.

The last snapshot is as below.
Name VEEAM BACKUP TEMPORARY SNAPSHOT
Description Please do not delete this snapshot. It is being used by Veeam Backup.
Created 23/02/2020, 10:14:59 am
Disk usage 27.21 GB

It appears the subsequent disk consolidation failed, and vSphere tried to start it on all the other hosts but it failed due to a missing snapshot disk.

Missing
/vmfs/volumes/25631b46-bf8d4ec3/PSN-SOA-MC-01/PSN-SOA-MC-01_1_322849-000002.vmdk

We have both the 01.vmdk and the 03.vmdk in the datastore, but not the 02.vmdk
