Description (partial)

Symptom:
If LDAP username has more than 20 characters, ucsd will sync that user, but with only first 20 letters in username.

Test:

Username in LDAP :pedesettstpedesettstpedesettstpedesettstigor@jbl.dcn.lab
After ldap sync in UCSD that user is visible as :pedesettstpedesettst@jbl.dcn.com

Only first 20 characters are used

Conditions:
UCSD, microsoft AD
