Cisco Bug: CSCvt29931 - We need to update the TP Endpoint and CUCM Deployment Guide.
Apr 28, 2020
- Cisco Telepresence Integrator C Series
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: We're seeing lots of issues related to CE endpoint administration when deployed on CUCM. These is a Cisco TelePresence Endpoints and Cisco Unified Communications Manager deployment guide that could help alleviate these issues. However that guide has not been updated since December 2017, and the current version is for CUCM 11.0(1) and CE8.0 which means most of the information is extremely out dated. Conditions: Issue 1) The Room Series platform brought about several major changes with one of the most common issues we see being upgrading a Room Series device via CUCM. - When you perform the upgrade on any WebEx Room Series devices from CUCM you muust use the .loads file, or you risk the upgrade failing. * This is very important as with the Room Series devices the camera peripheral software is no longer bundled within the .pkg file like it was with legacy devices. Issue 2) With 12.5(1) SU1 the CE product specific configuration section was completely redesigned to mimic the web interaces configuration pages. - This is a massive change that finally exposes most of CE endpoint configuration to the CUCM configuration pages, but there is little to no documentation on either the CUCM or CE side with how to use this new feature. - Even on supported version before 12.5(1) SU1 we still have lots of configuration that has been added to CUCM via updates and Device packages that are not adaquately covered in any CUCM or CE document. Issue 3) The current document references extremely out dated version that are either deferred or End of Life. - CE8.0 is deferred thus no longer offered. - CUCM 11.0(1) went EoL Jan 31, 2017, went End of SW Maintenance Aug 1, 2018, and will be fully End of Support July 31 which is in a few months. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-callmanager/eos-eol-notice-c51-738520.html
