Cisco Bug: CSCvt23585 - Listen points are not restored, if we restore backup of 8.X CUSP to 10.X vCUSP

Last Modified

Jun 11, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Unified SIP Proxy

Known Affected Releases

10.0(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
++ From release note, if we restore backup of CUSP 8.X, we will not restore the IP address in CUSP 10.1, from our third point :

The backup configuration files from Cisco Unified SIP Proxy 8.x release does not have network related configuration as Cisco SRE module gets the relevant information through RBCP protocol from the host router when it powers up. Cisco Unified SIP Proxy 10.1 does not support RBCP communication. So, if a backup configuration from Cisco Unified SIP Proxy 8.5.x release is restored in Cisco Unified SIP Proxy 10.1, you must manually enter and configure the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway details during reload.

++ But if we look in to the following point (Listen points restore), we are talking about different IP's of SRE vs vCUSP, so if we already mention, we will not restore IP address, in the above point, how does the following point even come in to picture ? as we will not restore IP, following point need to be changed in the release note, to a correct description.

"Listen points are not restored if the IP address of the Cisco Unified SIP Proxy on SRE module and Cisco Unified SIP Proxy 10.1 are different. You must manually configure the listen points."
