Last Modified

Oct 13, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When Device classifier or AutoConf feature is configured on a Cat3k/Cat9k switch it session monitoring feature on all interfaces.
In a not so common situation where we have 2 end points with the same MAC address but residing in separate VLANs // L2 broadcast domains [such as HA Firewall cluster // cloned VM from template without changing MAC address // Cat6k switch where each interface has the same MAC address] will result in the following symptoms:
- obvious %FMFP-3-OBJ_DWNLD_TO_DP_FAILED: Switch 1 R0/0: fman_fp_image: WRClient <ID> download to DP failed log message
- not so obvious fact that switch does not learn this MAC address in all VLANs which will inherently cause unknown unicast flooding in a VLAN where MAC address is not learn

Conditions:
- same MAC address has to exist inside separate VLANs
- device classifier or macro auto global processing or autoconf feature is enabled
