Cisco Bug: CSCvt14200 - CMS 2.8 DEFLATE Data Compression Algorithm Used for HTTPS

Last Modified

Apr 30, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Meeting Server

Known Affected Releases

2.8

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Cisco Meeting Server implements an HTTP traffic compression algorithm that may be affected by the vulnerabilities identified by the following Common Vulnerability and Exposures (CVE) IDs:

CVE-2013-3587 - SSL Breach Attack

Even though some static pages do use compression, all user data is conveyed in non-compressed pages. This allows CMS to benefit from compression for some large static pages such as JavaScript pages, without risking reflecting user content.
So CMS is not vulnerable to BREACH attacks.

Conditions:
Device with default configuration.
