Cisco Bug: CSCvt10006 - ENH - Include an option to search for 'No Sender' in message tracking

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco Email Security Appliance

Known Affected Releases

12.1-087

Description (partial)

Symptom:
It is not possible to search for messages that show as having "(no sender)". Examples of messages sent this way include "Out of Office" notifications. If a request is to generate a report of all "Out of Office" messages in a given time frame (for which subject line can be unique for every message), there is no proper way to do so at present given the search mechanisms available on cloud SMA. Leaving the envelope sender search field blank results in that field filter not being used.

The ESAs pass and log messages with "(no sender)", and will show messages in search results that have "(no sender)" provided they match some unrelated search criteria. There needs to be a proper way to search for these messages that the ESAs process.

Either make a blank search term for envelope sender provide results for "(no sender)", or else have a special character/token to represent no sender, or else have special text such as "(no sender)" represent messages that pass through the ESAs but have no sender.

Conditions:
Leaving envelope sender field blank in message tracking
