Cisco Bug: CSCvs99087 - NX-OS CLI parser should use standard checksum output syntax (md5sum)
Feb 14, 2020
- Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: Currently when performing a checksum on the NX-OS cli the output is not in a standard format and does not include the filename. This is problematic when performing a checksum on multiple files at once or using the output of the command as input for Unix or GNU/Linux `md5sum(1)` tools:
SWITCH(config)# show file n7700-s2-dk184.108.40.206.D1.1.bin md5sum f90c20c1e27e7be052d332f5909c5f6f tac@desktop:$ md5sum n7700-s2-dk220.127.116.11.D1.1.bin f90c20c1e27e7be052d332f5909c5f6f n7700-s2-dk18.104.22.168.D1.1.bin
This is problematic when a wildcard is used on a list of files:
N77-C7706-1(config)# show file *.bin md5sum 63d9a27f1e7555ef642f1327d7895c0a <=== Difficult to determine which file hash belongs to f90c20c1e27e7be052d332f5909c5f6f e007db573afd1764afd9df801842cd95 8cf5911f0f07c91e087a75d13b2146c1
Conditions: All NX-OS based switches exhibit this behavior.
