Last Modified

Jun 24, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco 2900 Series Integrated Services Routers

Known Affected Releases

15.6(3)M

Description (partial)

Symptom:
After monitoring the memory of this device, we observed that 'USB Startup' process keeps holding more and more memory over time.

When looking at the 'show processes memory sorted' output, it will be observed an increment of ≈ 5MB every week under the 'USB Startup' process.

Moreover, we saw the following Allocator PCs at the top of the 'show memory allocating-process totals' output:

Router# show memory allocating-process totals
<snip>
        PC            Total     Count      Name
0x300613B8   33056032    3287   Watched Queue
0x3101A6F8   17578352     276    USB Startup
<snip>

Conditions:
Any platform with the USB keychain hardware.
