Cisco Bug: CSCvs90343 - fib_mgr crash observed

Last Modified

Jun 02, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers

Known Affected Releases

6.5.3.ROUT

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Process fib_mgr hit unrecoverable error and restarted in release R6.5.3

Conditions:
fib_mgr receives the adjacency update from AIB. As part of adjacent update fib_mgr creates the adjacency route. The issue is observed when memory allocation for the adjacency route buffer failed. The error for route creation was not handle gracefully. fib_mgr tries to access the invalid route pointer and hits segmentation fault.
Since fib_mgr restarted after the segmentation fault we are not sure why memory allocation failed for the route buffer.
