Cisco Bug: CSCvs87987 - Shcedulled backup allows Pre and Post scripts but they require root privileges to edit

Last Modified

Aug 26, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Mobility Services Engine

Known Affected Releases

10.6(2)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
CMX 10.6.2 allows scheduled backups of CMX, however when setting up the schedule we get the message:

Pre and Post scripts can be modified to perform user specific tasks
Pre Script : /home/cmxadmin/bin/preScheduleBackup.sh
Post Script: /home/cmxadmin/bin/postScheduleBackup.sh

But to access these files we need root access. Since 10.6 blocks root access, there is no way to edit these files unless customer opens TAC case and requests the root patch.

Conditions:
CMX 10.6.2.
