Last Modified

May 25, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

9.13(1) 9.8(4.15)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Configuration guide for the ASA states:
"For an interface to count against the VLAN limit, you must assign a VLAN to it. "

For the reference:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa913/configuration/general/asa-913-general-config/intro-license-smart.html

However, ASA consumes a VLAN whenever 'nameif' is configured on an interface (any interface).

Conditions:
If attempt to configure more "nameif" on ASA than Maximum VLANs value in License expected error is shown:
"ERROR: Maximum number of interfaces already configured."
