Cisco Bug: CSCvs85182 - CMX filters out associated locally administered MAC addresses

Last Modified

Oct 22, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Wireless Network Management Software Suite

Known Affected Releases

10.6(2.1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
CMX filters out locally administered MAC address. The original intent was to filter out random MAC of probing client (apple IoS behavior).
However, Android 10 devices of multiple vendors now have a "privacy MAC" feature on by default that randomizes the MAC address every-time you connect to the network. This means that CMX filters out and displays no data (analytics or location) about clients with this feature on, even when they are associated

Conditions:
CMX location services
