Cisco Bug: CSCvs59168 - Attention-led does not validate location correctly in NETCONF requests

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco 8000 Series Routers

Known Affected Releases

7.0.14.BASE

Description (partial)

Symptom:
In 7.0.12, Nodeid lib doesn't support PSU cards in case we need to get PSU nodeid from node string. Due to this, some components cannot validate the PSU string as passed in the XR CLI, for example, as part of a configuration change, which will fail because the node doesn't exist at all.

Here is one example involving LED Mgr. Ledmgr maintains nodes DB for all available cards which are coming in through FRU events’ notifications. There is a corner case when ledmgr starts and verifies all attention LEDs config while the specific PSU FRU event didn’t arrive yet. Unfortunately, there is no way in XR today to verify if the PSU is valid one or not hence we need to verify it blindly and bypass this case. Due to this, if the user commits a config with an invalid PSU, LED Mgr will simply bypass it and the commit will end up in a configuration error.

Conditions:
The issue is seen in XR 7.0.12. First reported on the following build:
