Cisco Bug: CSCvs56070 - DOC BUG ASA 9.9 BGP password format documentation not correct .
Jan 15, 2020
- Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: The documentation regarding the BGP password format does not seem to be correct. The link to the document is as follows: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa99/configuration/general/asa-99-general-config/route-bgp.html From the document, we see following lines regarding BGP password format : "The first character cannot be a number. You cannot specify a password in the format number-space-anything. The space after the number can cause authentication to fail" However, customer is using number as the first character in his BGP password and it works without any issues . I have also replicated the same in my lab and I am successfully able to configure first character as the number in the BGP password between the two ASAs and the BGP neighbourship is established successfully .
