Cisco Bug: CSCvs31593 - Packet Tracer shows multiple egress interface selections in multi-context mode

Last Modified

Apr 15, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

9.6(3.8)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When using packet tracer to troubleshoot a packet or flow, packet-tracer will show the egress interface of the current AND subsequent contexts when the ASA is 'chaining' contexts with shared interfaces. This may cause a user to believe the egress interface classifications are wrong and delay/inhibit troubleshooting efforts.

Conditions:
This is observed when using packet-tracer to identify an egress packet in an ASA in multi-context mode when the packet ingresses and egresses more than one context on the same physical ASA.
