Description (partial)

RNID information is retained in a FICON VSAN when a FICON device is removed and plugged with non-FICON device.

When a FICON device logs into the port, RNID information is exchanged and stored in the switch.

However, now if the ficon device is unplugged and a non-ficon device like an open systems port is plugged in to the same port, then the RNID info of the previous ficon device is not deleted from the switch.
Because the RNID info is still present, when DM draws the port, it determines that the port is a FICON port (showing CH or CU on DM versus F) based on if the RNID info is present.
