Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco Catalyst 9500H Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

16.12.1 16.6.6 16.9.4

Description (partial)

- Cat9k does not return exact switch model in response to OID

- OID details:
"The vendor's authoritative identification of the network management subsystem contained in the entity. This value is allocated within the SMI enterprises subtree ( and provides an easy and unambiguous means for determining `what kind of box' is being managed."
- Customer expectation is every Cisco device to return a unique value for OID, while currently multiple different switch models report the same one, for example:
a) C9500-48Y4C and C9500-32C return = "ciscoCat9500VirtualStack"
We would like to see:
- C9500-48Y4C returning = "ciscoCat950048Y4C"
- C9500-32C returning = "ciscoCat950032C"
b) WS-3650-24PS-L and WS-C3650-48FQM-L return = "cat36xxstack"
We would like to see:
- WS-3650-24PS-L returning = "ciscoC365024PS"
- WS-C3650-48FQM-L returning = "ciscoC365048TS" or = "ciscoC365048PS" or = "ciscoC365048TD" or = "ciscoC365048PD" or = "ciscoC365048PQ" or = "ciscoC365048TQ" as there is no OID pointing to "ciscoC365048FQM"

- Cat9k running any software image, including the latest one like 16.6.7, 16.9.4, 16.12.1
- SNMP request for OID
