Known Affected Releases
Symptom: Frames from the supervisor to end devices (such as FCNS control plane frames) time out on a switch egress FC port. If Port Guard is configured then it may trigger if it is monitoring timeout discards. The following syslogs can be logged:
%PMON-SLOT8-4-WARNING_THRESHOLD_REACHED_UPWARD: Timeout Discards has reached warning threshold in the upward direction (port fc1/1 [0x1000000], value = 9). %PMON-SLOT8-3-RISING_THRESHOLD_REACHED: Timeout Discards has reached the rising threshold (port=fc1/1 [0x10000000], value=9) . %PMON-SLOT8-2-PMON_PORTGUARD_ACTION: PortGuard Config applied for Port fc1/1(1000000) Status(5)-(error disable)_Reason(53)-(Timeout Discards). %PORT-5-IF_DOWN: %$VSAN 1%$ Interface fc1/1 is down (Error disabled - due to PMON failure )
Conditions: This issue only occurs when the congestion drop time out value is set to the minimum value of 200 ms on MDS 9700 platforms.
