Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco 5500 Series Wireless Controllers

Known Affected Releases

8.2(164.0) 8.3(140.0)

Description (partial)

WLCs 8540 and 5520 have their MICs installed on the UCS FlexFlash cards.
These are the certs used for example for AP join.
When the WLCs are in HA, it is also used to valide the image sent to the standby WLC.

If the FlexFlash card gets broken on the standby WLC, the AP SSO pair will be at risk, no upgrade will be successful and in case of a failover, no AP will be able to join the standby WLC.

The WLC, either active or standby, should be able to detect the status of the FlexFlash and if it gets faulty, warn the administrator so that actions can be done before a network down situation happen.

WLC 8540 or 5520.
