Cisco Bug: CSCvi98774 - Differentiate in diagnostics between login failures, and failures following remote login

Last Modified

Description (partial)

An ssh connection fails to reach one or more VMs from whichever node is run.

Here are some ideas off the top of my head:

- file descriptor exhaustion
- other ulimit-related problems (try deleting /etc/security/limits.conf!)
- deletion of ~/.ssh keys
- permission changes on home dirs that result in qns keys being inaccessible (as root, try chmod 600 /home)
- ssh not yet started during bootup
- ssh failed for some other reason
- network failures
- dozens of other possibilities. There are many ways to duplicate this issue, and we've seen many of them in TAC over the years.
